Agree with tim on riding that thicker piece of sheet metal and momentarily dipping onto that thinner gauge for a deposit.

Do you have dents dings rust or other damage to your mopar s door shells fenders hoods or any other sheet metal.
This cuts down on the warp factor of the sheet metal.
With floor pans warping is not nearly as much of an issue so you can weld a little closer than 3 inches.
More than that it s worth cutting out anything that s rusty and then plating over.

I also like a fabricated flange to frame the sheet.
