Although in my opinion 4 coats of satin polyurethane makes the very best finish for a pine floor there are many alternatives. You can choose from a floating vinyl plank a glue down vinyl plank or a loose lay vinyl floor. Find a rustic look with a hand scraped texture or a subtle stone look to match your cabin s appeal. Oil based varnishes are too soft.

Polyurethane is the better choice for a cabin sole. For a fun wall accent we also put up thin brick veneer. My husband and i however like to experiment and figured our cabin was the place to do it. Oil based finish will last much longer in comparison.
